JAY SCOTT
Camp Manager Jay Scott is a driven man, undeterred by obstacles and distractions that seek to alter his path. So when he came to Camp Barnabas in 2001 as a volunteer, it was to check something off his list on the way to becoming a lawyer and/or politician. He definitely was not planning on it changing his life. “From the way I now view people, to finding my wife here, to raising my child here on the grounds….Camp Barnabas has definitely shaped my everyday walk,” he admits. Jay proposed to his wife, Danae, on the closing day of camp summer 2003. He moved through the ranks from supper camp counselor to men’s united leader and was hired in 2006 as camp manager. Definitely a different path than he imaged his life taking growing up in Rogers, Arkansas. But, he believes, “it’s about loving on kids” and that, for him makes it a path worth taking. He and Danae have been married three years and have one son, Mason, a dog named Cooper.
