Laura Edwards - Staff Director

Laura Edwards was working as a paraprofessional in a special education classroom when she first learned about Camp Barnabas.  She says, “God made it very clear to me that he wanted me to be a part of this ministry.”  For the summer of 2003 she was a lead counselor in a cabin.  The following year she was asked to be the office assistant and then to stay on part-time throughout the year.  In 2005 she was became “Cruise Director” and began learning the job of coordinating all of the volunteers.  For the next four years she served as full-time Volunteer Coordinator and was responsible for recruiting, registering, communicating with and training approximately 1,800 CIAs every summer.

At the conclusion of this past camp season, she moved into the role of Staff Director, where she will recruit and hire the 130+ summer staff as well as manage human resources matters for the year-round staff and coordinate special events.

“I love that we get to provide life-changing opportunities for our campers, staff and our volunteers,” she says.  “Camp Barnabas has changed my life.”  Laura and her husband Isaac live in Joplin, MO.  Isaac is the founder of Rain Makers Christian Sports Ministry.
