Volunteers

The ministry of Camp Barnabas is actually two-fold:

1.To the special campers and their siblings.
2.To the people who serve and work with them.

Each part of the ministry is dependent on the other and God works in the heart of every camper and volunteer. The volunteers are vital to the success of the camp program.
For the summer of 2008 almost 1,800 people from over 30 states participated in intense, servant-oriented ministry as they care for and assist over 1,300 campers who will come through the gates of Camp Barnabas. We call these special people “Christians in Action” or CIAs. One volunteer told us, “The lessons I learned during the week at camp will last me a lifetime. Now I know what it means to have a joyful and grateful heart.” Many others tell us, “I came to teach, but I found I was the one who learned.” Another youth leader, who has brought mission groups for the last ten years said, “I could teach a thousand Sunday School lessons and never be able to teach what my young people learn here in one week.”
