Volunteers

What is it that drives people to give up a week of their summer in exchange for long hours, no pay and little rest?
It has something to do with Kyle's smile, Laura's giggle and Tim's stories. It's related to stepping outside your comfort zone, diving into a new relationship and soaring over the world's boundaries.
The smell of chocolate chip pancakes, the taste of afternoon freeze and the feel of your camper's hugs. The roar of the crowd when the campers arrive, the hush of the campus during Cross Carry and the thrill of a Standing O.
As one volunteer recently said, "You just can't explain the awesomeness of it. You just have to experience it. Anything else just pales in comparison."

Camp surprises volunteer
At the beginning of the week, I wasn't expecting to have much fun. I thought the week would be all work and that everyone would be overly serious, and that all the campers would be miserable. I found that I was greatly mistaken. Everyone was full of energy and hilarity (including the campers). The most fun was the working. Seeing all the campers having the time of their lives and going nuts really set me on fire...I learned so much about other people and myself this week and I'm so happy I chose to go on this amazing experience!
