6 Ways To Encourage Others

Mar 20, 2020 | Tips

Here are a few simple ways to show kindness and lift up others this spring!

1. Send Snail Mail

Receiving a letter in the mail is always fun, no matter the season! Think of some friends or relatives who may need a pick-me-up and write a letter to them. As an added bonus, include a drawing, and tell them how much they mean to you!

2. Share Supplies With Your Neighbor

God calls us to love our neighbors, and now is a better time than ever to practice that command! Check-in with someone next door and make sure they are doing well and see if there is anything you can do to help, whether that be share supplies, food, or offer an encouraging word. If you’d rather just leave a package or a note (to practice social distancing), and let them know they are loved, that’s a great idea, too!

3. Send An Uplifting Song to a Friend

We have to be careful to not get stuck in the anxiousness and fear that is prevalent right now. Is there a song you listen to when you’re feeling down or discouraged? Send a link to a friend so that they too can experience the joy that song brings you!

4. Put a Sign Up

Spread messages of love and hope with a piece of art in your window or yard. Neighbors who are passing by may see your words and be cheered up by your creation.

5. Facetime a Friend

Even though you may be stuck at home, you don’t have to stop connecting with friends! Use Facetime, Skype, Google Hangouts, or Facebook Messenger to have some face-to-face interaction with your friends, relatives, or camp pals.

6. Pray for Others

There are a lot of people in need of prayer right now. Take time out of your day to spend time with the Lord. Pray for comfort and healing for those who need it, and pray for those who are working hard to care for those most affected.

Above all, be uplifting with your words. What you say holds a lot of power and speaking positively can make a big difference. In Proverbs 12:25 it says “Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.” You have the power to make a difference, so let’s glorify God with all you say and do!
