Summer is the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors and soak up God’s beautiful creation. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to spend a little extra time with the Lord, whether it be on your own, with friends, or with family.
We asked our staff what resources they found helpful when growing in their faith. Whether you are on-the-go or have extra time this season, we invite you to take a look at this list; who knows, you just might find a few new resources you might enjoy!
“100% love this Bible and reading it with my kids! It’s great for elementary age kids!” – Abby S.
“This app is incredible! It provides a small community within it, reading plans, and online access to a bible. It is so cool to be in touch with other women online who are also interested in pursuing their relationship with Christ. This has one for guys too!” – Sammi N.
“I read it to my kiddos at home and at school. I wanted them to know how special they were to God and that we should spend time with Him to fully grasp how special we are to God.” – Sandy M.
“This is a great devotional, no matter where you are in your walk as a Christian. I love that it’s relevant and straight forward, yet rich enough that I always am able to gain something each time I read it. I use it as a daily touchpoint in addition to other studies to stay in touch with the Lord. I also love that it’s a great on-the-go book for people who are in need of something a bit more succinct.” -Krystal S.
Fervent (A Woman’s Battle Plan for Serious, Specific, and Strategic Prayer) by Priscilla Shirer
“This book has been incredible for me personally in my prayer walk. Priscilla does an incredible job of walking through areas in which Christians struggle and providing scriptures to combat these lies that I so often believe. Priscilla seamlessly incorporates scripture into her writing while engaging the reader. This is targeted towards women, but could easily be adapted towards men. My favorite part of this book is the scriptures that she lists out at the end of each chapter. When I realize that I am struggling with something, these are great verses to read over and over to refocus on truth.” -Brenda W.
“The best resource for adults and kids on your phone and iPad. You can read the Bible in any translation, find a Bible study/plan (hundreds to choose from), or use the easy commentary.” – Mindy F.
Getting Outside & Enjoying God’s Creation
“I find it super helpful for me to force myself to some peace every night, turn on some Christian music and go for a nice steady walk. Nothing that feels like a workout, but simply just enjoying my surroundings.” -Brock S.
Choosing Gratitude: Your Journey to Joy by Nancy Leigh DeMoss
“Making time for gratitude has always been an important part of my journey as a special needs parent. No matter how challenging or chaotic life has been thus far, a gratitude journal or prayer meditation has always refocused me and cleared my heart for worship.” – Andrea H.
The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel
“This was huge for me as I was growing up to learn how to defend my faith to the outside world – I’d highly recommend to anyone!” – Micah G.
Lisa Whittle (Author & Podcaster)
“Lisa has written several books, all of which have been a blessing to me and impacted me spiritually. Her podcast is spiritually encouraging and challenging as well as entertaining and informative.” -Donna C.
“This is a streaming Bible study video library! I love it because it includes kid episodes as well.” – Susan C.
“I receive an email every morning with a super short read (maybe 10 minutes) and thought-provoking questions and action steps.” – Barbi D.
