Vehicle & Transportation Policy
Staff will use the 3-Person Rule when transporting Missionaries or Campers in vehicles. At least two Staff members must transport a single Missionary or Camper, or at least two Missionaries must be present if transported by a single member of Barnabas' Staff. If only Campers are being transported, an additional Staff member or Missionary must be present.
Parents/Guardians or non-minor individuals who maintain their own guardianship are communicated with by their driver via email and text message 24-48 hours before their pick-up from the Springfield Branson National Airport (SGF). The email/text contains the exact pick-up time, the location, which is the exit door of the SGF airport, and the safety procedures for passengers in the vehicles. Any communication regarding changes or emergencies will come from the driver and will be communicated as quickly as possible.
The following safety rules are posted in each vehicle and gone over by the driver before departure.
- Passengers should remain seated at all times with hands and arms inside of the vehicle.
- Seatbelts should be fastened - one person per seatbelt.
- Passengers in wheelchairs are seat-belted into wheelchairs that are in locked positions and secured to vehicles.
- The noise level should not distract the driver. Objects should not be thrown, and other disruptive behavior should not occur.
- Passengers should enter and leave the vehicle under the direction of Camp Barnabas Staff. If the vehicle makes an emergency or unplanned stop, passengers should follow the directions of Camp Barnabas Staff and use the buddy system if leaving the vehicle.
